Our Story
The Story of Esuubi Shool
2017 – A Need for Change
The closest school was a 30-minute walk away, often on an empty stomach and through muddy roads. We began homeschooling 10 children in the outdoor area of our home.
2018 – Opening Our First School
Seeing the need in the village, we rented and renovated a local building to create a basic school. It had dirt floors, no toilets, and too few benches — but it was a start, and we welcomed children from the surrounding community.
2018–2020 – Steady Growth
The school expanded to 8 grades and improved facilities: proper flooring, toilets, a kitchen serving tea and lunch, a nurse’s station, and a small boarding section. It became a place of hope and opportunity.
2020 – COVID & Closure
Nationwide school closures forced us to pause, but we adapted. Boarders were homeschooled, and village students received learning packs to continue studying from home.
2021 – A New Beginning
Thanks to generous donations, we fulfilled a long-held dream: building our own purpose-built school on Esuubi land. Construction was completed in time for the 2021 school year — creating a stronger, safer, and more sustainable future for our children.
2022–2024 – Going International
In 2022, we began implementing the international Cambridge Curriculum with the goal of having our students’ education recognized globally. We are proud to share that by 2024, over 30 children are enrolled in this new programme — a huge step forward for their futures.
2025 – Happeria Secondary School
This year, we are excited to open the doors to Happeria Secondary School, a 100% free community school teaching the Ugandan Curriculum, located in Kibibi village around 15 kilometers from our main center.
Who we are
How we Work
Knowing that a large number of children of the village were not receiving an education either through the distance to the nearest school or simply not being able to afford the school fees it was decided to rent a local building, convert it as best as possible and open the doors to the children of the village – this was when the Esuubi Foundation school was first formalised in 2018.
